I'll Wait

I'll Wait

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ to be in love with a poet...or is it the poetry...~

"

art ~  Tamara de Lempicka

~~~
Tonight
When the moon beckons and the stars wink
and the curtains sway in the midnight breeze…
I’ll wait
for a whisper of the words you weave,
a serenade of all that is love
to slip through the sky in poetic colors of romance
and tiptoe softly across my pillow
capturing my heart
as I dream
only
of
you...
Tonight
~~~

Across the ages the night sky has been looked up to for inspiration and solace. A place where we expect to find heaven and those who wait for us. A metaphore for a life that is looking up perhaps. The mystery of the stars draws us to gaze and dream. A freedom we cannot expect to achieve.
Another wonderful piece of writing.

I truly enjoyed the images you conjured up for me, the curtains swaying in the midnight breeze was especially moving, and ending with the single word "Tonight" was simple yet strong.

Thank you for your kind words :) Julie
interesting question you raised in your description..

it's a lovely poem...and there is so much romance in the idea of loving a poet...but is that what we love or is it the poetry itself.
because we often ask the question, can we separate the artist from the paintings, or the poet's real life persona from the persona in the poetry?
arthur rimbaud was not a poet to love, he was a scum...but his poetry, beautiful....
so do we separate..and which do we really love?

good question raised here Julie.
