Butterfly

Butterfly

A Poem by MsJewel

~ written in Octelle form ~

~~~
Poised for flight, with wings held high
she dreams she is a butterfly
floating through a sky of blue
to dance ‘pon a cloud or two
sunbeams weave a light within
so shadows can’t find her when
poised for flight, with wings held high
she dreams she is a butterfly
The Octelle is a form created by Emily Romano. It has eight lines and the rhyme scheme is aabbccaa, the syllable count is 88777788. The first two lines are repeated as the last two lines. What further sets the form, in its description, is using personification and symbolism in a telling manner.
Ballet as dance and art form is often as structured as the Octelle form in poetry and both in the hands of creative and artistic mind reveal the kind of beauty the takes us to special places of awareness. You capture both forms in this poem Julie. You imagine what a ballerina might think as she interprets themusic.. a lovely poem Julie, one we should all dance to.. ~~redzone
Probably the best poem I've read on here so far. Invokes images and memories of summer as well as delicate ballerinas floating in ballets long ago forgotten. It is beautiful, LOVE IT.
Julie, you must be the most discipline writer/poetess that I have ever read. To do this form and make sense alone would be impressive, but to do it and make beautiful poetry....wow. Yes, I tagged you with a wow.
A beautiful poem for the dancer. I like the skilled dancers. They can take us to beautiful and wonderful places. No weakness in the amazing poetry.
