Driftwood

Driftwood

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ a scribble of love ~

"

art ~ Elzbieta Mozyro

Weathered, weary

half full of light…

you surrounded me with an ocean

soft with kisses,

                 warm with sand

and healed the place once tattered

with pastel reveries

of skies in lavender and blue silk

Where seabirds sang

above graceful tides

and I was afloat

~ drifting in an ocean of the sweetest poetry ~

And when I fought with the wind

my soul prepared for flight

you surrounded me with an ocean

soft were the kisses, warm was the sand

Wow, such a stunning piece! The title is what really drew me to this and as I read it...I couldn't help but realize that I often envision being loved as being surrounded by an ocean, the rocks, sand, warmth. The imagery really packed a punch with this and it flowed beautifully. It tells such thoughts and the picture above, when I looked at it longer after I was finished reading this piece, it made me think of a woman who is waiting on the rocks for her lover to return to her. Perhaps he swam out somewhere in search of help and promised to come back for her. Seeing her walk along the rocks, seeing the waves crash a ways before, it takes an aim at your heart for her. What must she be feeling? Is her lover ever to return to her, scoop her up and shower her with the kisses she once received long ago?

Thank you Larry. Have a lovely evening :) Julie
A. spoke for me as well, this poem hardly "driftwood, weathered or weary", Julie, it's just warm as that sand and as sensuous as those kisses.. you, my friend could not scribble a love poem even if you tried.. can I say I love this poem... er.. too late ;0) beautifully done Julie ~~redzone
