The Seabirds Sing

The Seabirds Sing

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ morning at the beach ~

"

art ~ Garmash ~ Ocean Breeze

~~~
As soft as winds of dawn that blow
and wake me from my sleepy bed
with graceful sounds, is the echo
of melodies heard overhead
I watch their wings unfold in flight
painting the skies in harmony
with warm sunbeams as flecks of light
twirl gently on the peaceful sea
I listen to the lazy waves
sweeping the shore so far below
the songs that lift the dew and save
the sweetest day now born to show…
Sometimes the heart must pause to breathe
to clarify the pulse and mind
as softly as the echoes’ weave
serenity will be defined
So the seabirds, they sing again
as the sun smiles in the beauty
of songs that sail upon the wind
to fill my heart with poetry
~~~

dear Julie.... Reading your poetry is getting to
know sun smiles and wind songs. We often feed
the seagulls. They are so grateful... and are partial
to Hot Cross Buns... broken into pieces. Each seabird is
so delicate and beautiful... much like your poetry.
truly... Pat

Your title captured my attention and your beautiful words held me throughout. Living near the beach, I feel very blessed, as do you, sharing in the pure essence of serenity. Each line is beautifully written, and the last line sums it up, "to fill my heart with poetry"....you my friend have a beautiful heart, are truly a soulful writer, you appreciates all life has to offer, it shows in your work. Definitely a new favorite of mine.

How amazing would it be to grow up by the sea? I wish I had that experience, the only time I 'live' near the sea is when I go up North for the weekend. Ha. This is absolutely stunning, loved it all.

Oh how my heart needs to pause and breathe! There we find peace and our words have freedom to take perfect form---I fell into the arms of this piece! So soft and lovely. Needed this tonight!

Those moments have a magical quality to them. And here is the serenity I was previously talking about:

Sometimes the heart must pause to breathe
to clarify the pulse and mind
as softly as the echoes’ weave
serenity will be defined

We need to stop before we can ever move forward. It's a beautiful poem.

Having grown up quite literally on the shoreline of the Atlantic, this reading was a moving experience, but that's what your writing does for me anyway :) It made me warm with nostalgia in the early parts, then I began to feel like I was growing up with each successive stanza, till I arrived at the end and had my breath swiftly taken away...what a beautiful quatrain...nobody defines serenity like you Julie :)

I feel in great harmony with love and nature when I read your poems as if in a oneness. I sail the seven seas and then come back to reality to catch a breath...Excellent...:).......
