Harvesting Roses

Harvesting Roses

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ a love scribble ~

"

art ~ Richard Johnson

A heavenly paradise is that place

where roses bloom for the one whose love is innocent

like rosebuds in the fallen snow

         soft with verses

                     sweet with poetry

Gather the sweetness

and breathe me

             as I dream you

        and the night bleeds stars

glistening on the roses

as gracefully as the rain will fall in spring

tasting of dreams,

                     or is it my tears

as make believe and reality become one...

finding me, still...

                harvesting roses

Lovely. I get the impression that roses are significant in your life. I once bought my girlfriend ALL the red roses in a flower kiosk. I was in Poland at the time and hadn't realised the kiosk was there to service patrons of the huge cemetary nearby. The lady was shocked when I asked her to wrap them in brightly coloured papers. My girlfriend was impressed though, we were married 6 months later.

Thank you Jacob :) Julie
Astonishing my friend...so often your work takes me back to the years of the Romantic writers, who could fuse nature and sensuality like no other group of writers before or since. Every time I thought I'd read my favourite line, I found myself swooning over the next one. The night bleeds stars, the rain tastes of dreams, and on and on...magical images from a magical piece by a magical poet...lovely work Julie :)

harvesting roses"

These lines are breathtakingly sorrowful, Julie...a sudden contrast to the first part where you portrayed roses-filled imagery and love-filled atmosphere. Have I told you I'm a fan of tragic poetry and unrequited love?

I think there should be a dash in "make believe"...
