Starlight

Starlight

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ a romantic poem written in an Octelle form ~

"

art ~ Vincent van Gogh

~~~
As softly as a lover’s sigh
the stars sang in the moonlit sky
sweet melodies in the night
that woke the clocks with delight
as our hearts in soft embrace
breathed words of silk and of lace
as softly as a lover’s sigh
the stars sang in the moonlit sky
~~~

With honey lips, as sweet as wine

my hand in his, his hand in mine

we traced a dream on this night

as passion played soft starlight

and in his arms I will stay

always to love him this way

with honey lips, as sweet as wine

my hand in his, his hand in mine…

~~~
Author's Note
MsJewel
The Octelle is a form created by Emily Romano. It has eight lines and the rhyme scheme is aabbccaa, the syllable count is 88777788. The first two lines are repeated as the last two lines. What further sets the form, in its description, is using personification and symbolism in a telling manner. You may have as many verses as you wish as long as they follow the same rules.
It seems for a short time every year I know who is on your mind
as your poetry is a clear window to your heart and soul.
I know how much he meant to you and my heart goes out to you my dear friend.
This is a wonderful expression of your talent and it holds so much meaning.
I am so sorry for your loss.
My love always.
