Coffee and Sweet Biscuits

Coffee and Sweet Biscuits

A Poem by MsJewel
"

I love classic movies...

"

art ~ Konstantin Razumov

~~

Breakfast at Tiffany’s still has a certain

je ne sais quoi…

 The coffee is warm

and the biscuits are sweet

and the tiny blossoms in the crystal vase flutter

as the breeze plays a quiet rendition

of the way we were

 I’m reminded

of love stories waltzing in timeless dreams

And though I never promised you a rose garden

the flowers bloomed

in scarlet red and passion pink

unfolding in your embrace

Splendor in the grass

on a summer day

scattering at your feet

on a moonstruck night

Only to stir again

on this quiet morning breeze

“Winter must be very cold

for those who have no memories to keep them warm

and we’ve already missed the spring…”

An affair to remember

when the coffee is warm

and the biscuits are sweet

~~

No one quite as romantic as Holly Golightly when she has the "reds" instead fo the "blues". She knew people had to fall in love to find happiness....and so it shall ever be. Of course then there is my favorite quote of all time from "an Affair to Remember"....."winter must be cold for those with no warm memories." And you, my friend, obviously have wonderfully romantic memories or you would not be able to write such gorgeous love poems. This one is a bit poignant, but the beauty touches me. the classic movies were made way before you were born, but you feel them....and it shows. The artwork you chose to accompany this poem is pure perfection. Loved this. Lydi**

I think I was born at the wrong time Lydi. I can relate to these movies much more than the movies to.. read more

dear Julie... somehow we shared our youth
wisely with Carey Grant and Gary Cooper.
You were a baby then or even a wisp of
a breeze...to be born a tease... but romance turns
over and over in bees and clover. There's a
new heart throb born each day. Vive La France.
Charming poetry. truly... Pat

You are welcome :)
I've never had breakfast at Tiffany's. But I feel like going now. Maybe Truman Capote's ghost is there.

I love the picture with your writing. I love old movies, too. Have you watched Green mansions? It is my favorite Hepburn flick.
I like the passion here and I love a good cup of coffee.
Nice scenes into this.

A wistful piece, fraught with beautiful poignancy. Such a beautiful figure in the portrait, and such a sharp contrast between her and the happy-go-lucky pup.

You really sweep the reader up in your work. Cheers.
