The Pearl

The Pearl

A Poem by MsJewel

a romantic little scribble

~~~
When dreams lie pale in the soft light
of the dim moon and as it swirls
a silhouette in liquid night
lonely and lost, a tender pearl
The darkness seeps into my soul
an echo now where his embrace
once lit the sky, now black as coal
with shadows I wish to replace
But as I turn to look away
with just a blink, it fills my eyes
a tiny spark beckons to stay
and flashes in the midnight skies
In graceful dance, or so it seems
a memory of the delight
of a bright moon and silver beams
that shimmered as we watched the night
The glow of then, another time
the perfect fit, the sweetest charms
when heart to heart and intertwined
I melted in the warmest arms
The soft vision of a romance
that lingers still, his gentle kiss
his tender touch, as moonbeams danced
on a canvas of amethyst
But that was oh so long ago
this velvet night, this love struck girl
Where is he now, he’ll never know
that in my heart, he’s still the pearl
~~~

But that was oh so long ago
this velvet night, this love struck girl
Where is he now, he'll never know
that in my heart, he's still the pearl -- these lines really followed to the heart for me.

I almost hate that I can relate to this piece, as it dreges up thoughts of things that have been lost; little treasures that were possibly not treasured enough in their time. Beautifully written, my friend.

'The Pearl'
Msjewel,
"That in my heart, he's still the pearl' It's so true the human soul carries life giving memories, living then as today. Beautiful to take in this writing of a younger time of joy of love. I really enjoyed its sweetness. The last line spoke to me of the spaciousness of memory and its reality. Thanks for writing this beauty.
Blessings,
Kathy

Beautifully-penned poem, Julie. The above stanza is my favorite. It makes an apt ending to such a romantic heartache. ;)

Thank you Pryde :) Julie
like the blood-letting of words flowing
through corridors of lofty peaks,
pooling in a mirror loch that reflects
the cracking of a limitless sky.

Romance tinged with the heaviness of melancholy. stunning yet forlorn.

This is a perfectly luminous poem. You used the image of the pearl and the imagery that followed with great skill and beauty.

a silhouette in liquid night
lonely and lost, a tender pearl

I am thrilled you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your nice comment :) Julie
As a sensitive kind of guy, this really spoke to me about my last relationship. Only I'm the male wondering about the woman. It's nice to have other people relate to things the same way. I especially liked the rhyming and imagery a whole lot. Nice work.

Heavy sigh! The melancholy nostalgia of your words is bittersweet, Julie. The imagery is stunning. So romantic. Lydi**
