One Last Kiss

One Last Kiss

A Poem by MsJewel
"

goodbye summer

"

art ~ Elzbieta Mozyro

Who woke me from this summer dream

wrapped in cloudless skies

and cooled the kiss of warm sunbeams

                     and took the butterflies

That swept the scent of wildflowers

on wings of tender lace

and

       fluttered

                    through

                                this

                                      fantasy

        the chill of this embrace

fades the songbirds sweet melodies

as heartbreak fills a sky

now breathing cool as Autumn falls

          I’ll whisper my goodbye….

to scattered leaves that fly too soon

        upon this icy breeze

                 to butterflies and wildflowers

and birds high in the trees

and blow just one last lovely kiss

to those warm sunbeams

that wrapped me once in cloudless skies…

            goodbye summer dreams

Julie, this is beautifully written!

You have an innate style that pulls me into the sentiments of your write.. and this eloquent piece has truly whispered good bye to summer... I felt the sadness...

I love fall, but I'm a summer child...so I can relate to this emotion...

Well penned...elegant write!~xoxo~

'One Last Kiss'
Msjewel,
Oh this felt like a song of mourning. I imagined whistles, madolins and just some kind of not wanting to see summer say goodbye. The poem shows how Fall allows us to say goodbye to summer with it's reality. some places experience Autumn less ferociously which is so interesting to me. We all feel differently with the seasons but yea gradual change can be so much more gentle. I really loved your poem!
Blessings and inspiration to you.

I like the poem. Had a light and beautiful feel to the words. It felt like a kind whisper of things to come and things left behind. I like the use of the kiss. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Julie, We all hate to lose those summer days the warm embrace it gives us, but fall can be just as enchanting. Nice work.

We don't have much of a fall here in california - I keep waiting for these darn palm trees to turn c.. read more
listening to Evanescense, "Bring Me To Life" (cool song by the way) and as I read, I was thinking that a lazy, sleepy summer kiss, hmmm a wonderful way to segment into Autumn with its colors and seeping chill... its the harbinger of harsh winter nights where hot chocolate in front of a roaring fireplace, wrapped in a warm throw come into view... but I think that even with the wonder and beauty a summer dream, spring kisses are the best.... thanks Julie for the "warm sunbeams"... be well, ~~redzone

What a beautiful welcome letter to fall. Your poem breathes beauty upon us all as we wait the arrival of this wonderful season. One last kiss and we bid farewell to summer, preparing to embrace Autumn. Very nicely done Julie.
