I can’t tell you what it’s like to be a ghost,
(because that implies that you lived before your death,) My timeline starts a little after that. I was thrown, unloved, kicking and screaming, wrapped in a shawl of my mother’s deepest, darkest secrets directly in the arms of the anonymous, and the doctors screamed, CALL IN THE EXPERTS, SHE APPEARS TO BE ALIVE, CALL IN THE EXPERTS, WE NEVER EXPECTED THIS. 21 years later, their feet grip the ceiling fans and they hang their heads, as if to defy gravity, and they stain their white coats again and again with their fabricated ‘elegance’ and ‘eloquence,’ in the Prozac prescriptions, in the raising suicide rate, in the mothers crying side-by-side their newborns at the age of fifteen, CALL IN THE EXPERTS WHAT HAVE WE DONE? The mephistopheles knows each of us by our full names, and shines his talons with our angel skin. WE ARE ALL HUMANS WITH ANGEL'S SKIN! Upholstered in white lace, stringing one another up and along, fabricating truths and lives, WE ARE ALL DEMONS WITH HUMAN'S SKIN! Let’s talk about my mother, let’s talk about yours, let’s talk about you at age 11, neglected by your own emotions, let’s talk about me at age 7, trying to play God. I can’t tell you what it’s like to be a ghost, but I can sure tell you what it’s like to live among them! What about you and you and you and you and him and her and you? What about all the times we cheated death? Oh wait, do you really feel alivealivealive? I should’ve begun with that, let’s start over, Hello, my name is _____ and I’d like to show you how to pull your teeth out without a dentist’s title. Hello, my name is____ and I’d like to show you how to get fucked again and again but keep your virginity in tact. Hello, my name is____ and I’d like to watch your bones turn to talcum powder and watch you try to make a toupee out of it to disprove your true age. CALL IN THE EXPERTS, SHE APPEARS TO BE ALIVE. 21 years later, they wish they were right. © 2011 Julianna MarieReviews
