Bags so black, Hearts so blue

Bags so black, Hearts so blue

A Poem by Julianna Marie

Unpack these bags beneath my eyes,
we can't stand to be alone.
Pack up those bags beneath your eyes,
I’ve found myself calling you home.
Oh, they’ve got you so black and blue,
our bruises fade to mimic their counterparts.
Oh you’ve got me so black and blue,
our bruises fade to match our hearts.
Your heart’s so heavy,
from all the bags from your past
The crack of your bones,
like the crook of your smile.
The clench of your jaw,
like the clasped hands
of our forgotten selves.
My heart’s so heavy,
with all these bags we’ll never pack.
The skeletons of your closets,
as a chill in my bones
Goosebumps rise and fall
with each breath you take,
and my arms become the uncharted terrain
that I can’t wait for you to live in.
(I’ve found myself
calling you home,
We can’t stand to be alone
I’ve found myself
calling you home.)
Pack up those bags beneath your eyes,
and
find
your
way
here,
to
me.
