I always liked crystals more than coals

I always liked crystals more than coals

A Poem by Julianna Marie

You are transparent.
You have no soul,
I can see right through you.
How'd you get that way?
You're so shameless,
You're so nameless,
How'd you get that way?
Your eyes once held crystals,
now they're lined with coal.
No wonder you always see the dark side.
How'd you get that way?
On the other side of these windows is darkness and I can see right through them,
Right through you,
Right through me.
What is your name now?
Where is your shame now?
And why have your crystals turned to coal?
Oh, we're all growing so old.
Except for you-- frozen in your youth.
Except for you--frozen in your too-tight black suit.
Except for you-- frozen in your sheets without me,
and all of my warmth.
You were always so cold,
and I'll continue to grow old
without you.
I miss when your eyes were crystal blue.
