Blind

Blind

A Poem by Julianna Marie

You are all blind,
and so deathly afraid to open
your rusted eyelids
and reveal that you have no eyes.
You can grope at the holes in your face,
and thank me--
for I have stolen them from each and every one of you.
You don't deserve to see
if you only see what you want.
You don't deserve to see
without seeing the big picture.
I have given you all what you've always wanted--
to be blind.
And you cry,
because seeing is believing.
And you cry,
because now you can't believe in anything--
I have stolen your sense of truth,
you have stolen my sense of identity,
but I still have your eyes,
so I'll try to see things from your point of view.
Destruction framed in normalcy,
a blanket of beauty tossed over the chaos--
I see the truths when you lie through your teeth.
You're a stuffed manniquin, up on display,
but when the lights turn off,
you're so damn hollow.
...remove my eyes as well,
it hurts too much to see you like this.
...remove my eyes as well,
I can't stand to see you for who you really are

Amazing. It was so brutal, in a good, literary way. I hope that makes sense. The last line really brings it home. Amazing read.
