We must be nowhere

We must be nowhere

A Poem by Julianna Marie

With a coffee-stained map,
and a cracked compass,
how were we supposed to find our way?
We're going nowhere fast,
we're going nowhere.
Ask me from the backseat,
"Are we there yet?"
and I'll reply,
"If I am here,
and so are you,
we must be nowhere."
A trail of breadcrumbs to lead us
back to reality,
we signal the birds to descend and feast:
we don't want to find our way home.
An escape,
we've escaped;
we are more free than anyone
could ever imagine.
To disappear,
we have succeeded.
I am only visible to you,
and you to me--
this is all we've ever wanted.
"If I am here,
and so are you,
we must be nowhere."
To disappear,
we have succeeded.
