No heroes...

No hero to save us.

No hero to unite us.

No hero to tell us the truth.

No hero to unravel the lies.

No hero to battle the monsters.

No hero to deliver us from evil.

No hero to defend the weak.

No hero to imprison the guilty.

No hero to stand up for justice.

No hero without blemish or fault.

No hero to give us brighter tomorrows

No hero to take away all of our sorrows.

The era of heroes has long since past.

This is a time of villains...

Author's Note

I wrote this poem a while back after watching a couple of MARVEL´s marvellous movies about superheroes that always save the day. Reality is grimmer than fiction. Unfortunately :(

Tell me about it. It's up to us to fix it though.We don't all have to be hero's, we just have to do our part to keep the world from caving in to fear and ignorance. Fear and despair will defeat us far faster than Terrorist nations or corrupt politicians or any other evil we all see day to day. Now, about your poem. I like the way you shaped the poem, very e.e. cummings. Beautifully written, though sad. The repetition really serves to drive the point home.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. And, yes, fear is like poison. It kills us slowly and makes us cower away from the evils we witness. maybe, if we were all a little braver and kinder the world wouldn´t be such a mess...

Every body needs a hero , we must gain strength from something or someone, a believe, a religion or even a loved one.
in these days we lives in every one of us got a hero sleeps within him.
we need to find this hero .... and make it shine.

I like this poem, although I don't think it's all sad that there are no superheroes in real life. If this is a time of villains maybe this is also a time to become heroes ourselves :-)

Hopefully, we´ll wake up able to fly, read people´s thoughts, spit fire and move things with our minds :)
But in all seriousness now, I sincerily hope that we can become heroes ourselves. The world deserves to be saved and so do we.
