Reflect..

Reflect..

A Poem by Julia

A wonder less light follows the reflections in the water
Leaving one to say what they can blatantly see
A beginning to end reflection found only in the midst of disappointment
may drown in a pool of waking desire and rejection
thoughts still unwinding into a deepening pile of confusion and wonder

Asking the questions of "what if" and "why" being thrown into the face of one's prison keeper
Unjust laws being placed to keep a life from reaching it's full potential

Julia, i had to stop and reread this poem several times, before realizing the message being delivered. Forcing me, as a reader, to stop and seriously think about your poem. Your last stanza, carries a punch that i wasn't expecting to read. Great job. Sadly, one person's just law, is another person's unjust one. If a person is guilty of murder, doesn't that person deserve to serve a debt to society. Payment of this debt, doesn't mean the state execute them. Which, the state is no better, than a murder. Too many innocent people have paid that horrible price. Thank you for sharing this though provoking poem with us.
