It's a metaphor

Although you may not know me,

I am the strongest animal on Earth.

I can live at the bottom of the deepest sea,

In places colder than the Arctic,

Or in places hotter than El Azizia.

I have been to space

And have survived its vacuum.

 

You can’t find me in a zoo,

Like a polar bear or a chimpanzee.

You can’t see me without help,

But I always see you

As I sip the water

From the moss.

 

Open your mind 

To all the life around you.

I may be small,

But I matter too.

I wrote this poem on a whim. It's a metaphor. Oh, and it's the third poem I have ever written.

Another amazing poem from Julia! =) I love the imagery you used. I'm very fond of free-form poems like these. I like it when poems don't have a set line length or rhyme scheme. It makes them interesting.

You did a great job of catching my attention at the beginning and keeping it throughout the poem. It really made me think, and that's a great quality to have. It makes your readers what to read the poem again, and keeps it in their minds even after they've put it down.

There are two places where I would make two lines into one line. Where it says:
"As I sip the water
From the moss."
I would make that one line (i.e. "As I sip the water from the moss"). When it's two lines, readers are inclined to pause between the two, and that throws off the rhythm a little bit. If they were one line it would help the poem flow a lot better. I would do the same where it says:
"Open your mind
To all the life around you."
Make that one line, and it would help the rhythm and flow a lot.

That's the only suggestion I have for you. The poem is very well written, and I love how the lines gradually grow shorter, as if leading the reader to the end of the poem. Great work as always =D
