What not to say to a man on a ledge

What not to say to a man on a ledge

A Poem by Julie

The man on the ledge is not afraid.

People gather, down bellow,

and stare worriedly (or excitedly)

at his silhouette.

"Think about your family!"

"You are stronger than this!"

"Things will get better!"

They cry,

not knowing why

but that it's what you're supposed to say

to the man on a ledge.

But the man smiles,

broader still,

because he has no family;

needs no strength;

and knows that things will (soon) get better.

So to the horror (or thrill) of the people,

he falls,

flies,

dies,

off the ledge.

It's so true, we often say what we assume people want to hear with out really understanding.
Or taking the time to talk and ask the right questions.
I wish this upon no one but you've down a good job with making us stop to think on this one.
