What not to say to a man on a ledgeA Poem by JulieThe man on the ledge is not afraid. People gather, down bellow, and stare worriedly (or excitedly) at his silhouette. "Think about your family!" "You are stronger than this!" "Things will get better!" They cry, not knowing why but that it's what you're supposed to say to the man on a ledge. But the man smiles, broader still, because he has no family; needs no strength; and knows that things will (soon) get better. So to the horror (or thrill) of the people, he falls, flies, dies, off the ledge. © 2014 JulieAuthor's Note
