Homeless Girl

Homeless Girl

A Poem by Jules
"

My thoughts last night were of a girl I drew a long time ago, the look in her face, her eyes and the sadness). The image portrayed was that of a girl, living on the streets, abandoned, abused and lonely

"

In rags and homeless with nowhere to go,
the girl is sobbing and feeling so low.
Hair all matted and stomach empty,
longing for the day when all is plenty.

An outcast at birth with an angry dad,
she’s done no wrong and yet feels so bad.
Wandering alone afraid at night,
counting the hours until first light.

Each day is harder, she’s in so much pain,
she needs a home and to be loved again.
Aching and tired, her heart beats slow,
still nowhere safe, where can she go?

An alley of rubbish, an overflowing skip,
her refuge for the night, she needs a kip.
Curled into a ball, keeping out harms way,
not long ’til the morning and another day.

She dreams of places she’s never been,
strolling through vales and pastures green,
poppies swaying in a
midday breeze,
the whispering of the giants, those beautiful trees.

Sleep so welcoming, energy so low,
she’s on a journey now, not far to go.
A light like a beacon, but no warning to send,
her journey’s complete, there’s peace in the end.
