Into the Darkness and Into the NightA Poem by JulesMy thoughts were tonight, as I sat outside, was of the owl calling nearby.
Into the Darkness and into the Night the bird of prey takes its flight. Eyes alert and hearing sound it looks for food upon the ground. A mouse is doing exactly the same, before long the mouse is game. So into the night its wings spread the owl feeds and is well fed. Days are long and nights are short, the bird is longing to be caught. It’s screeching to alert a mate, to be a mother is its fate. And before long the eggs hatch, hungry mouths appear from the batch. So into the darkness and into the night the bird of prey takes its flight. © 2008 Jules |
