A Trip with No ReturnA Poem by Julian LorenzanaA Trip with No Return
A trip I am taking From which I won’t come back It’s not of my making But I’m ready to pack
That trip I cannot stall For it’s taken by all We all obey that call Old, young or even small
I may go to a space Where good cheer has no bounds They say it is a place Where happiness abounds
Have you paid a good price A lot of people ask Earning this paradise Becomes a mighty task
If while you are alive God’s rules you never miss I’m sure you’ll earn that life Of happiness and bliss
There is another place Where my long trip may end A real hot desert space Where all my time I’ll spend
There is never relief For cool you’ll never be Where you will always beef For rain you’ll never see
Will I be ending there And burn eternally Have I been good or fair Or bad I’ve been really
A Trip with No Return (Continued)
I will tell you one thing I truly have to say That of the rules I think Those rules I should obey
Are these sites really there Some say that that’s a myth I hope it won’t be where The rest of me will sit
Has someone seen that place And come right back to tell Has he come face to face With it for years to dwell
They say our trip will end At a hole near our homes Where worms will surely spend Eating even our bones
A good or a bad being We’ll be there anyway Worms may eat everything We won’t feel it, they say
I’m ready to embark I’m almost on my way Just where I’ll disembark I really cannot say
But I sure hope and pray That wherever I stay I can come back to say That if you’re good, it’ll pay
I won’t discuss the place The place where I reside ‘Cause I want to save face For it will hurt my pride © 2017 Julian Lorenzana |
