Second Chair

Second Chair

A Poem by JugHead985
"

How to deal with being second place in someone's life.

"
I lie awake, thinking of only you
Still in harms way, so few dreams to come true
You think about a way to keep me outside
Burning from within you see that I'm right

This is the final curtain call
I've come too far to start so small
Will you come with me
Or just watch me leave

The tears won't fall like rain
To stain these streets of gold
My heart so numb to the pain
That you won't make your heart my home

From the first time, your eyes met with mine
I knew I belonged to you
Without the courage to fight,
How can I know what you say is true

And it's all about to be
Tell me you don't feel the same
The victim in you won't be set free
Until you wash your tongue of his name

The tears won't fall like rain
To stain these streets of gold
My heart so numb to the pain
That you won't make your heart my home

We can wash our hands of all of this
Just come with me
To the lands of beauty you deserve
Just come with me
Why won't you just leave the hurt behind
Reach out your heart
And just come with me.
