Autumnal Thoughts
A Poem by
Judy Ponceby
Tumbling, twirling
leaves en masse.
Seasons arrive
and then will pass.
Brilliant hues
Of orange and red
Scatter across
Sweet Summer's bed.
So brief the fall
in its passing.
Cool crisp air,
vibrant leaves flashing.
Soon, too soon
The colors fade
And bitter winter
spreads its shade.

This is a very sweet poem. I love it's simplicity and the cute imagery employed here. For instance the phrases "leaves en masse" and "sweet summer's bed" are very pretty. The poem ends on a somewhat wistful note though... I wonder if it is necessary to taint the beauty of autumn with the impending arrival of winter. That is the natural order of things, so I do understand the inclusion of those lines, but I would have preferred a more "happy ending" to such a lovely poem.
A good job, though! :)

beautiful poem,. I would remove "warm"" from line 8 because it is redundant, The reader already knows that summer is warm

I love this season! We took a drive over the mountains surrounding our valley last Saturday to collect leaves for our table centerpiece. I wanted something special for our family anniversary dinner for my daughter and her husband on Sunday. What a treat it was to enjoy that day in that breathtaking setting with my husband and children!
Great poem!!!

Wonderful imagery of autumn. I don't like the cold so much, but the colors of fall are out of this world. Beautifully written, Judy!

Nice crisp write. I too have been using the short phrasing in my poems. There is something about the fall that invites the brevity of it all.
