In the woods

In the woods

A Poem by Judy Ponceby
"

A tanka...

"

Shy watchful raccoon
Scurried under the black top
to peer from the brush.
Carefully watching us watch
The barred owl winging away.

Author's Note

Judy Ponceby
The raccoon actually went into a hole by the road and popped up on the other side behind the brush over the drainage access. He was adorable. The owl watched us for quite a long time before flying away. A lovely experience at the park yesterday.

One of Nature's interesting little moments, made absolutely fascinating by the poet's descriptive skills; skills which, by the way, are lean and to-the-point.
Hurtling towards mastery, Judy.

Yes, those little critters are adorable, but you should never try to grab one like I did when I was a kid. I tell ya, it didn't take me long to turn it loose. A sweet peek at one of the little guys, Judy.
