Wishes

Wishes

A Poem by Judy Ponceby
"

If wishes were....

"

If wishes were fishes,
I'd have a whole bunch.
Swimming in fishbowls,
Awaiting their lunch.

If wishes were french fries,
I'd have a caboodle.
Frying in the skillet,
To feed to my poodle.

If wishes were colors,
I'd have a rainbow.
Coloring the world,
Hued in magenta and mango.

If wishes were flowers,
I'd have a garden full.
Showing their faces,
And smelling of taffy pull.

If wishes were mine,
I'd hand out a dozen.
To every girl and boy,
To each uncle and cousin.

Why does this make me feel like skipping? It's 6 am on Sunday morning! How can one be so bloody chipper? LOL! I loved the upbeat feel and tempo to this. Now excuse me, I'm going back for more coffee.

A lovely, spritely ditty that has suddenly given me a yen for taffy.
Now, where the hell am I gonna get some taffy?--in a state where the only "taffy" we now have is a local hooker. Hmm, getting another yen...

Your rhyme scheme is pleasing to read. Your poems are sweet and a bit playful.. well, i am saying your poems are like this but this is only the second i have read.
So this one and Quack! are so playful and sweet.
Wishes .. if only .. love the french fries to feed your poodle.
And your sharing the wishes.. as in your last verse.
A very nice read.
