Turning Back the Clock

Turning Back the Clock

A Poem by Judy

January 9, 2011
I was a half century -
Should I not be
twice as smart,
twice as versed
than I was
a quarter century ago?

Rather, I feel
unenlightened, behind the times,
living some fabrication.
Each step I ascend
Two are descended.

I am moving ahead as an independent woman,
a writer, something
I have dreamed about my whole life.
and yet my biological clock
is ticking to its end.

"Should I not be twice as smart, twice as versed than I was a quarter century ago?" Wouldn't that be great? Alas, we grow older in all ways, and wiser only in some... A great piece of pondering, Judy!
