Unsettled AshesA Poem by Judes
Dancing crimson, raised from embers of lust
Never settled for a long, soft glow But for the sake of brief nirvanas Silly me, for not letting go An everlasting hunger I (resentfully) waited for Try to make be believe With the passion of a pastors' sermon, echoed through hallowed walls Instead of the same apathetic, monotone And I, your self-serving servant, faithfully gave you praise Now I'm layered in this ashy residue Alone I wear it like armour To remind me of a time When I danced too close to a fire That was regrettably fueled by disdain Leaving unsettled ashes to remain © 2019 Judes |
