CanticlesA Chapter by JudeTrainA string of a strange relationship, held by two unstable parties.Satisfying Apples Conclusions contrary to thought, thought based on conclusions; and the only basis of thought is what we know, which is what we’ve completely done. Canticles* The boulevard was shaded with pine as clear as space, for the scent drifted as such. Minds shuffled timidly, because really when don’t they? And bodies cascaded through the pavement like magnets uniformly charged. I managed to find myself outside a café, with mind- wrapped in hunger, but I was alone. No one likes to eat in communal places all alone. So I kept my stirring, when barely two feet from my face now wobbling out of an alley were two men moving an oversized rug, or more likely a carpet. Waiting, gently enduring until the men walked past me thru the streets I stared with pudding eyed vision towards the left. There stood the very same café. Glancing at one of the terror-sized entrances I saw a post which read: “Consequently let him that thinks he standing beware that he does not fall.” Impetuously I entered. Impetuously he entered. He stared at me, but I did not glance at him. I am the little boy who sits at café tables alone and whistle blues inside my head. Now you know. “Now I know”, I said to the olive green cashier women as I waited at the end of the counter for my pitless coffee and oiled bread. Turning my head I stared around the chilly room, fans racing overhead. Staring, only to notice that their were very few people in the café, and that the café was named Quincies, I know who owns this café, which
is why I’m at all times here, because he by no means is. Plus, no person talks
to little boys who sit alone at cafés whistling Portuguese in their heads. I
take a taste of my apple *crunch*, reposition my chair and it rubs against the
smooth floor, no one cares. “Next time you’ll know what to order” I laughed and noticed my coffee and bread were already there as I curved towards the counter. Not knowing where to take a seat I slowly walked under each bulb of incandescent light. One light flickered above my head, and I noticed the boy once more as I walked past him. He said whilst chewing an apple: “Likewise let your light shine before men”. I fumbled my tongue and carefully said “likewise”, and sat right beside him. He looked conflicted all of a sudden. I was puzzled. This was stirred
compared to what usually takes place here. Why would he sit next to me? Better
yet, why would I sit next to him?” The little boy began to get up, and I started to glean pieces of information from his idled movements. Rallying my breath I asked him the simplest of questions: “What’s your name?” “Child”, he responded and I softly said as he walked away “That’s right…” © 2010 JudeTrainAuthor's Note
