Sadie on the Porch

Sadie on the Porch

A Poem by Taffy Lane Writer
"

Story about my friend Sadie.

"

Sadie lay on the double seated chair
Her head down on the cushions in the porch
With brownish hair looking like chocolate there;
So beautiful, how could I keep from carrying the torch?
Eyes lit by the dining room light in mine ask,
"Are you coming out, or am I coming in?"
As looking back I was unable to multitask
As she rose and walked to the outside sliding door
And standing in my reflection scratched the screen
Apparently having decided she wanted more
Than to watch some poet pen her desperate scene?
But walking away down the stairs, tail between her legs
Just a chocolate Lab she went to her house and no longer begs.
