Something Vague

Something Vague

A Poem by Y.F.

You told me you'll never let go,
you told me you'll fight, I believed so
and yet here we are, and it seems like it's been
a forever and half, since I've felt at home.

Remembering your smile when we met,
the look in your eyes, like a curious cat,
but now it has all flown away,
and the memory seems all so vague.

I need a reminder,
or something to hold to,
I need you, I need your passion
devotion and love;

just something I've been thinking of.

You told me you'll get me the moon,
I thought it's a little too soon,
and now all I get are half empty glasses
the closest I get are the crumbs on the couch.

Remembering the first time we laughed -
we used to have something, now there's nothing left,
for now we have nothing to say,
and happiness seems all so vague.

I need a reminder,
or something to hold to,
I need you, I need your spirit,
devotion and love;

just something I've been thinking of.

You told me "till death do us part",
I knew it came straight from your heart,
and now all that's left are remains of what's been,
black coals of a fire, a once burning flame.

Remembering that one night in bed,
awoke to you holding my hand,
and it all seems so distant now,
the future just seems all so vague.

I need a reminder,
or something to hold to,
I need you, I need your caring,
devotion and love;

just something I've been thinking of.
