The Circus

The Circus

A Poem by Y.F.
"

Life is not always the happiest show on earth.

"
Every day I jump through hoops,
their fire burning from inside,
the beast within already tamed,
for I no longer have my pride.

I juggle tasks most inhumane,
and most unbalanced do I feel
riding askew, with no support,
pursuing poise on just one wheel.

A lifetime full of twists and turns,
and as I fold myself in half,
this rubber-boy, about to snap,
just turns his back upon himself.

There is no crowd to watch nor cheer,
and yet I find myself bow down,
there's just one question to be asked -
Am I nothing but a clown?

I know I've been using some of the metaphors in the first stanza WAY too much, but they just fit so well.

Sometime I feel the same. I do many things and I don't know if anything I do is worthwhile. I like this poem. Using circus and life. You create a poem with purpose and reason. A excellent poem.

good poem, love the extended metaphor... usually i think rhyming poems always sound a little cheesy, but this flows really well and that final question is a great way to end it. :)
