King of Hearts Broken

King of Hearts Broken

A Poem by Y.F.

As he puts on the table

all of his cards

his hand he exposes

lets go of his guards

A risk taker at heart

some risks are worth taken

but with the risks he does take

he is sadly mistaken

The cards he was dealt

were too small or too weak

his last chip remains

as things turn to bleak

As her hand once more wins

he slowly departs

forever to remain

the king of broken hearts

Great form, great use of words.

Your message is well presented and imparted. The use of red fonts brings further the atmosphere and character of the red card.

This is a wonderful piece

This is cool. It has metaphor on metaphor. Isolating them and keeping them straight is dizzying, but in a good way. Cards, life, broken hearts... Perfect. Very, very nicely done!
