Goodbye, Dear Friend

Goodbye, Dear Friend

A Poem by Y.F.
"

Dedicated to a fallen comrad.

"

The frog is crying

at the top of the mountain

why did you have to go?

When you died

you've started a fountain

why did you have to go?

The child like smile

that brightened our day

why did you have to go?

We'll always remember

we will always say

why did you have to go?

All that's left

is to say goodbye

why did you have to go?

I'll always cry

when I'll wonder why

why did you have to go?

This is dedicated to a friend I've lost a few years ago.
Anyone who knew him knows exactly what I'm talking about (even the first stanza, which probably raised an eyebrow or two).

Yes, the repetitive lines echo the resonance of the words. When I read the first stanza I had no idea where this was going to go - it's a very interesting image that obviously has personal significance to this fallen comrad. Few words but they speak volumes. A nice tribute. NH

I'll admit I don't understand the frog and the mountain, but there is a lot of great literature and poetry with personal background few will understand. That's okay, that makes it more real anyway. I likes the ressonnating effect of the echo in this poem. I don't know the person you speak of, but certainly on many levels I can relate. It's a sad but beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Your feelings for your friend are beautifully conveyed here. You painted an image of a wonderful person in just a few stanzas, and the first stanza lends an element of mystery to those of us that didn't know your friend.

A very nice tribute.

Your lines work like an echo from the mountainside. As well as the echo within the heart.

I find a true resonance in your poem...

Tenderness is truly expressed, and it seems always at the ready.
