Imperial Darkness

Imperial Darkness

A Poem by Layla J Omorose

Imperial Darkness

Quiet. Thoughts churning.

The heartbreaking

The silent eyes of the watcher…forever watching.

Judgment…the night stalker

Cold, unfeeling …nothing

The quiet murder lurking in the shadows.

Transparent teeth

Invisible to the eye

Attacking the lions pride

Ruler over shadows

Commander of loneliness

Instructor of pain

Always wanting but to never have

Reaching but never touching

A chilling stalker…women…children

Words written in the dark

Heartfelt

A hurtful reality

Soul shattering…physical wounds

Immortal darkness

Creep up from the sides

Wrap around…smothering

Sinking

Drowning

Dying…I’m sorry

Imperial Darknes

I wonder why you have put this big photo of I don't know what. lol. . Your poem is enough to make me step back and catch the breath again. :) You have really nice sense of keeping the poem exactly the way you want it to. You should try short story with the same title. I would love to see how you manage and go with that. Any ways I like your poem.

Excellent poem. The seeming disjointedness of several of the stanzas, the way they are clipped, adds much to this. It solidifies the meaning of the first line and leaves one to believe that it's about a person, one who is more of a creature, drowning in their own insanity.

As others have said, the picture isn't really necessary, but you get extra points in my book for using a pic from Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption. That, along with your descriptions, makes me think the poem is about a vampire, or who thinks that they are one.

Either way, nice write. I look forward to reading more of your work.

A wicked write. Very dark and suspenseful. My heart beat is still trying to slow itself down. Not too many poems can do that either. Absolutely wonderful. ^_~
