Storing Seconds

Storing Seconds

A Poem by J.L.R

and the moments

they just dance right by

like particles of dust

through my curtains

leaking amber

not in linear travel

but flowing

like water

breath to wind on waves

the way from a distance

it is all one lifeline

of foamy white

but up close

there is a glitter

racing through

individual fractions

of droplet mist

these are the seconds

I can’t count

or keep track of

at all

they just hang there

in the background

my oxygen supply

we should always have

memories like these

in our pantries

on our shelves

waiting to be dusted

for release

Dust floating through sunbeams is a magical image for me. I have an early memory of it.

most of all i enjoyed the concept and the message of it... a very good reminder of how time passes from us... ending was lovely too...

Time does indeed flow like water. With no impediments it will pass faster than we can ever know. And yet, the hands are always so still.

Nicely written J.L.R
