The Death of Me

The Death of Me

A Poem by Alex Borst

I had a plan
To make it all work
I had a plan
To sort it out first
I didn't know that it would be the death of me

You came to me
Like a ghost from my past
Your eyes were shining
Just like shattered glass
I didn't know that you would be the death of me

Life makes a fool of us all while we're waiting
To cash in our chips for impossible dreams
No one can tell you the rules to the game that we're playing
Or so it seems

When we first met
Saw the gloom in your eyes
When we first kissed
Saw the rings in the sky
It was then I knew that you would be the death of me

Tamas is waiting when Rajas has lead you astray
Sattva can save you, but it's so far away
Life makes a fool of us all while we're waiting
To cash in our chips for impossible dreams
No one can tell you the rules to the game that we're playing
Or so it seems
