Holiday Girl

Holiday Girl

A Poem by Alex Borst

With your long dark hair
And your sweet, shy look
You've got it all figured out
Play it by the book

And I can just sit tight
I can swallow my doubt
But I just can't see
How all of this works out

I'm not an oracle
This is historical

Well you're family's all here
In their sharp, pressed suits
They see us side by side
But they don't see the truth

The way you hold my hand
But you won't look at me
And I see through your smile
The way you grit your teeth

I'm not an oracle
This is historical

Oh wait a minute, everyone's looking
Don't make a scene in this picturesque movie
It's gonna be alright
If only just for tonight
My holiday girl
