The Attic

The Attic

A Poem by Jqjohnson

Confined in this hardened attic
Virtual escapement teetering
Thoughts of love smothered with static

A single bulb hanging from a string
Might I have the same fate
Life cannot give what death may bring

Lone window covered in dust
Resemblance of my tattered soul
Was it love or only lust

Remnants of the days have gone
Flashes of a swift escapement
Departed quicker than a winter yawn

Thoughts are my own confinement
My own spirit can set me free
Set my heart in alignment

I must leave this hardened attic
For reverie of love has let me be
The grandeur of life is mostly erratic
