Ghost Song's Inspiration

Ghost Song's Inspiration

A Poem by Jqjohnson

Thank you, oh Lord, for the white blind light
A city rises from the sea
I had a splitting headache
From which the future's made

Our lives owed to servitude
Ballroom days are over
Facts transcribing your attitude
Wish upon a four-leaf clover

The days may be numbered
But the future is infinite
Locked away; chances spent slumbered
Box of thought is a powerful instrument

Instantly gone, taken
Where does the mind go
The journey has awaken
Enjoy the show

Wandering, wandering through unrattled shores
Strings have been cut, free to roam
Take flight, my darling, the future is yours
Will you explore or seek out your home

Congratulations on your placing in the Deep Down Poetry contest.

We're all haunted by our choice and by the shadows of possible futures. This seems to speak to that feeling, to me.

You're welcome. I try to review all the winning entries of the contests in which my own work places.

I really like this piece. I especially love the last two lines, they are so fitting for a ghost! Good job, keep it up :)
