Eulogy

Eulogy

A Poem by Jim Palasty
"

A revelation too late

"

"Of course I'm not dead."

I said to the man

who held, with contempt,

the gun in his hand.

I try to make him

pay attention to me

but he just stares at a body,

who's could it be?

I look at the body,

with a hole in his head.

"My God, it is me!"

"I guess I am dead!"

The grief took ahold

but left right away

as the man knelt down

with something to say.

"Oh Lord, please forgive

I've caused him to die.

I've always believed

in an eye for an eye."

With one final move,

and his final breath

the man pulled the trigger

and joined me in death.
