Live Forever

Live Forever

A Poem by Jim K

Do you want to live forever?
Do you want to leave a mark?
Do you want to be someone's
Shining beacon in the dark?
Do you want to make a difference ?
Do you want to make a change?
Are we really all so different?
Does it really seem so strange?
Does it have to be so difficult?
To just see eye to eye
Are we blinded by the past?
Can we just keep standing by?
While the world we live in crumbles
While we bicker, fuss and fight
And all the while, while our brothers, sisters
Mothers cry and die
We can make a change together
All we have to do is try
Are we really that damn simple
That we cannot realize why?
Why they fill us full of lies
Why they fill us full of hate
Why they're tearing us apart
While we just sit and debate
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter about your race
It doesn't matter about your sex
It doesn't matter about your face
It only matters about the future
It doesn't matter about the past
If we don't figure out the problems
Fix it now and make it fast
I believe there's still a chance
I believe that there's still hope
If we could just love one another
Wouldn't that be really dope?
Earth's the only home we have
And we have to live together
So let's just make a change
So human kind can live forever

Excellent writing! Full of truth and obvious frustration. I'm right there with you. Keep on keeping on and things will get better. There are others like you feeling this way.
