A Tribute to My Comrade Sisters

A Tribute to My Comrade Sisters

A Poem by Joyeeta
"

It’s a ode to my favourite cousin sisters who always fought their way out. When I composed this, one of them was alive battling cancer vigorously but we lost her two months ago.

"
I am sitting down with my pen,
in a faraway land
For many days, I recalled my memories,
That faded with poor calories
I want to share the aesthetic childhood
spent in the lap of a maternal knighthood.

They are my sisters sent from heaven,
with so many magical possessions
They stood through thick and thin,
like the mighty Jhansi queen
Two are identical, one is a reflection
There are the three famous sisters from my aunt
Homo sapiens confused them often with a single glance

Two of them dressed alike, they played and ate together
but they are not two but one, each other's forever
Popularly called Sonika & Monika,
The younger sister is their Veronica
She is soft, gentle and shy
but has a soul of a samurai
She is called Minakshi, popularly known as Mini
and I am their little cousin sister Bini :-)

I remember those summer vacations,
spent in Bhaskar nagar nation
I waited for the birds to start chirping
so that I could cross the street and go searching,
I stood up on my dearest bench,
scanning through my sister's fence
And there I went chorusing and chanting,
Sonu, Monu and Mini didi (elder sister)
My whole neighborhood went geeky
and knew it was me, the cheeky.

I spent my vacation in their lovely abode,
where I had infinite love that always snowed
My aunts and uncles would crack funny jokes,
that always gave me an energy dose
Soon, when hours went on passing like years,
My mother would come look for me with spears
As soon as she used to step inside,
She would turn into a hybrid
Instead of lifting me up and giving me fiery eye balls
She would join her siblings for a comedy intercourse
Together we all used to have hearty roars
and some moments completely enamoured.

Now after those lovely years,
when we all grew up here and there
I see my three strong sisters,
combating all odds and fears
She sits there, in the infirmary like an invincible Buddha
Sending the Cancer to the triangle of Bermuda
Thus it will never find a way back and face a drastic end,
because you collided with the wrong sisters, my friend.

She will defy all the probabilities,
with her strong capabilities
She will be the face of everyone
who fought cancer like warriors.
She is none other than,
the creator of stronger than cancer
She is Monika, the fighter
Along with Sonika & Minakshi, the Avengers.
And I am proud to be called their baby sister.
