an idea of freedom

an idea of freedom

A Poem by Red-Sea-Kelp
"

fragments from a documentary on the life, death, and work of photographer Carol Jerrems

"

an idea of freedom:

momentary release

from the human condition

of aloneness

Free love

There was an ideal

it was uncool

to be jealous

to be possessive

We all tried

to live by that

even though

we couldn’t

an idea of freedom

silent laughing

creative partnership

        nudity

course language

adult themes

1968

photographing people

moment preserved

courage

true artist

fearless

making the honest choice

going to a place of risk

knowing if you don’t

you will never be satisfied

paying for it later

with deep depressions

there is no freedom in art
