Ticktock

Ticktock

A Poem by Journeyed Soul

We measure life based on time.
How many minutes since we ate,
How many hours till we leave,
How many days of vacation we have,
How many months we have been single,
How many years left to live.
Is it a measurement we need?
Branding our existence with the tick of a clock?
The space from one moment to another,
Although sometimes greater than others,
Has no real bearing on the moment.
For instance, the sensation of love,
Does not increase or decrease,
Even when time is involved,
The feeling is still love.
Moments in your life,
Not to be ignored,
Trust for more to come,
Experience the one you are in to its fullest.
Time is probably a needed marker,
It allows for moments to be memories,
Changes to have their own space,
Events to have specialness.
Let time not run life,
It is not real,
Exist for the now,
Live to be alive,
Journey for destinations.
If time is needed,
Pick dates to make great moments,
Such as summers first day,
Never dull the time living,
Savor the times had,
Above all be sure to love.
Love for all the reason that makes you happy,
Never for reason people think you should.
Again, live this moment to its fullest,
Be thankful for those living with your moment,
And always take time with a grain of salt.

This is quite beautiful! I really like the way the poetic form actually moves in and out like a pendulum of a clock, not sure if it was intended but its awesome! Quite a true piece and one that more people need to try to remember and live by!
