Quiet, Quiet, QuietA Poem by JourneyBluSomewhat intense...Quiet, quiet, quiet I must be quiet Not a whimper or a moan or a scream Quiet consumes me Quiet keeps me alive Deadly expressions of pain I am ever so careful to keep them contained I do not rage or thrash or seek escape Even God I hate and curse in silence It is time for me to go away Quiet, quiet, quiet I am deafeningly silent Not even creating the whisper of tear on cheek The flow of blood exploding from my nose Commands the attention of his wrath How dare I bleed The embers of his ire glow like fractured crystals in his eyes Well placed blows explode into rainbows I do not gasp or sigh I hate my skin for betraying me with the thunderous echo it lets loose upon impact Quiet, quiet, quiet Like Mama, who never does cry Though I hear the tearing of her skin as she slips the needle in I hold my breath so as not to betray my pain A new burst of fire rages into my belly I bite my lips to stifle the scream A pathetic whimper escapes anyway Now his fists find purpose More noise in the collision of boot and bones Now look at what I’ve made him do I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry I cannot stop the desperate stream of pleading I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry The silence that would save me eludes My breath betrays in ragged gasps Like a worn out tornado the storm blows away gone I drag myself to the darkest corner and rock Quiet, quiet, quiet In deafening silence I admire the pool of blood Collecting in the fold of my shirt I am quiet I am strong Rocking and bleeding Practicing strong silence © 2012 JourneyBluFeatured Review
