Chasing Jonas

Chasing Jonas

A Poem by Solidad

He didn't look
like much of a man.

He didn't really
act like one either.

Though I suppose
the prodigal son shouldn't look heroic.

Only more weathered.
Funny what prison will do to a man's skin,

without windows it leathers up.
Telling stories of 'I'm sorry I got caught.'

It makes me want to pray for the man to have his escape from his past.
This poem is full of regret and sorrow. Compelling work.
