A Few Good MenA Poem by Solidad
I once knew a few good men,
held together like spokes on a bicycle wheel, Back when my grandfather walked, miles both ways, uphill and in the snow. They stood, with their hands tucked in coat pockets. When chivalry fell, one brick at a time. They watched me gracefully try on a dress my mother hemmed at the knee. Which one would gently slip off, from around my shoulders. Back when lies were set in stone, and worn around necks like jewelry. © 2011 SolidadAuthor's Note
