A Definition of HeavenA Poem by SolidadIts amazing how we as people bury things... Deep, Like that box at the back of the closet we refuse to open, Tapped shut with years of angst, and
bittersweet memories objectified by a few decades of dust. Years of internal wounds one refuses to deal with. Always hoping that if we kept it far enough in our dark places, one day it all would absolve itself. Eventually when the smoke clears there will always be that box filled with loss and resentment. Always afraid of what an old photo or T-shirt could summon. When what one really fears the most? The sight of the marring scars left behind, Etched abrasions left down “Deep in our souls for too long.” Hope with a hint of curiosity gets the better of us, Opening the box, Bracing oneself for the judgment they're about to face and be faced with, And although the thought remains swollen with a touch of brutal pain, I guess its not the way we'd always planned it, I guess we're headed for a crash landing, No one ever wants to reach in a bag of dreams and pull out a failed attempt. When happiness eludes you and faith has forgotten you, That's
usually when its easiest to look at heavens and swear. Depending on your definition of
Heaven. The simple pleasures in this world, come with a price
of the grander kind. There wasn't anything in life, you weren't forced to pay for. And to think years down the road it will still hurt my feelings to look at you, But I will “fight the tears with pretty smiles and lies about the times", Such a profound way to ache, holding it in until it eats its
way out. “Once upon a time in a far away place there was this girl...” © 2010 SolidadAuthor's Note
