A Love Song

A Love Song

A Poem by Solidad
"

The effects of music.

"

Sometimes I find myself missing Hip Hop.

Granted I've spent the better portion of the last 3yrs

indulged in it's molasses bass lines,

synthesized melodies.

My time away has left something of a hole.

Only aching when the wind blows,

close to my heart.

But here I feel left out.

I exited years ago.
now re-learning,
the melodic tones of acoustic indie
and so on.

Seeing as how there are only

so many worlds

you can stand in

at one time.

Passing through country

only to hang a left turn at bluegrass

and eventually making it to just beyond the stop sign

where folk has taken up residence.

Those moments in which I walked freely

through them all,

have stopped.

Taking the time to teach me a thing or two.

Linking to my memories and telling my heart strings,

"Let go."

Its ok to miss the music,

"It can't hurt you anymore."

Its safe to say,
"I don't miss the people."
Its the music.

Old begotten love songs,
sitting in the corner of my mind collecting dust.
If only a few notes
heard would bring them to life.

I get it and understand it, but I never stopped listening to my songs. I like the current music....somewhat. Country and pop, mostly. And rock.. and others. All the music I ever listened to is still going on and hasn't quit or whatever. I'm still listening to the same music with a few new bands incorporated into it. I never quit listening to country and shiz.

And NOW for the whole POINT of this review: I love this; it has a nice flow. The emotion comes through wonderfully, and can speak to certain people, I am sure. My favorite is the last stanza. Nice work, I really like it. (:

I completely understand~ I've had (mumble mumble) decades on the planet to have wisped through the old skool punk genre with doggie collars tight round the throat~ early rap with cap skew and converse ready to kick arse as needed~ the skavoovie era where Scofflaws and Desmond Decker had me sporting a blond chelseah fringe and plaid skirts with suspenders~ and on and on and on~ until plop~ here I am waking to Leonard Cohen~ working out to an eclectic medley of hip hop and techno~ consuming the day to easy flows into dance hall and night cradled in Santana or Italian operettas~ no one told me in the beginning that I could have more than one spice at a time~ so I took the entire rack on my own and rolled around in it until I was splendidly content~ I still do miss the scenes that went with the music~ nothing like being 12 at CBGB's mesmerized by the Ramones and etc. =)~
I love your poetic~ it speaks to a lot of us I am sure to whom music is not just an afterthought but a primary shade in their lives~ APPLAUSE!
