He Loves Me, I Love Him Not

He Loves Me, I Love Him Not

A Poem by Solidad

See the truth is,

Life isn't always about what's handed to us,
But more or less what we get out of it.
In all of the small things we don't see until its too late.
The blatancy of how easy things really could be,
If we would just get out of our own way.

Some days I hold close memories etched like scars,
Bitter and discontent.
Yet others I still hold hope for.
"Dreaming of a love that even Time will lie down and be still for."

The optimist in me has learned to dance in the rain,
As oppose to complaining about the puddles.
Coming to a realization that so what if the light at the end of the tunnel is JUST a light.
Most of the time that's all that's needed to see.

Though I highly doubt I'll make the right decision.
I never do.
And like a fool I feel the need to stand there,
And look surprised when the sky begins to fall.

I don't need you
 to catch me.
I don't want you
 to catch me.

Some days I wish
you
never
existed.

I'm confused most of the time,
Trying to pick a direction I think is up.
But I only seem to fall further.
Maybe we just need some time apart.

I don't want
 to be your safe route,
I don't want to
 be your solace.
I don't want to be
second to the prettier things in life.
